Fueling Middle School Multilingual Learners
Funded Nov 29, 2022For several years now we have requested and received an amazingly generous donation of snacks for our classroom. We use these snacks throughout the day as students come and go from our resource room classes. Sometimes they even come in at lunch to supplement what they received in the cafeteria as they are often given a small amount and these kids are growing and surprisingly hungry every day!
I like to involve our students in helping out and helping each other. When the boxes arrived in our office, I arranged for the students to help me get them to the classroom. They were so excited to see these boxes and carried them quickly so we could take inventory and have their first tastes.
Currently, we have 25 Multilingual Learners at our Middle School. They have a variety of levels of English from very early (came to America in September 2022) - to almost ready to exit the program as their English is strong. We use a variety of materials to learn English including local field trips, cooking, science experiments, and a traditional curriculum. Your generosity helps fuel the hard work we accomplish every day.”

Funded Sep 24, 2021Thank you so much for all the delicious snacks that your donation has provided for these children. My students come in each day ready to work hard on their English and don't have to worry about hunger getting in the way of their accomplishments. Knowing they can get through the morning without the distraction of a growling stomach allows them to focus on the challenges of learning a second language.
When my students first saw the boxes being delivered to our classroom they couldn't quite imagine what could be inside them! They never dreamed it would be a supply of snacks that would keep them from feeling hungry! Together the students helped me open the boxes, inventory the supplies, organize the snacks on shelves, break down the cardboard and deliver it to the recycling area.
Students can get what they need when we take our break between class periods. They line up and politely choose one, then sit down to eat and work on an independent task. These snack breaks give us a chance to discuss using good manners and good hygiene, teamwork, and taking care of our environment. This all is possible thanks to your incredible generosity.”

Happy & Healthy Middle Schoolers
Funded Sep 8, 2020Thank you so much for the snacks and supplies for my middle school ELL students. Many of our students do not have food stability and the snacks you provided have helped me to make sure our kids do not have to go hungry. The food and other supplies you helped provide have made such a difference in the comfort and safety of their daily lives.
Thank you for the cleaning supplies. Our students are attending in-person now since January 5th and it is very important that we have the ability to keep desks and tables clean at all times. Every time a student gets up to leave for a different classroom, he/she uses the cleaning spray and cloth to disinfect the surface for the next student.
Thank you for the bottled water. Our school has had to turn off the water bubblers in our building. Because of this our students have been asked to bring refillable bottles to stay hydrated. Many students do not have them or do not remember to bring them daily. The water I have available to them is very much appreciated after a challenging gym class or just when they are thirsty and have no bottle to fill.
Thank you so much for the pencils and pencil-top erasers. As we work to limit cross-contamination between students it is crucial that students do not share supplies. Having a big supply of them makes it safer for all of us.”

Mrs. Wegner
