Our project is a direct extension of the recycling program in our school. We discussed how small plastic items such as bottle caps and straws fall through the cracks of the recycling machines and don't get recycled. These materials often end up in our oceans and are harmful to the animals that live there. We problem solved and came up with the idea of an upcycling project that prevents our caps from hurting ocean animals. Creating this mosaic will beautify our campus, upcycle plastic bottle caps, educate students and adults on why plastic is so harmful to our environment and generate excitement throughout the school.
