Coming into my first teaching job this year, I had absolutely no idea what supplies I would need to help my students reach their full potential. As the year flies by, I notice that my kids would truly benefit from more organization in my classroom, a document camera, and speakers so they can finally actually hear the recordings of our readings, advertisement clips we are studying, and even the occasional movie/movie clips. I only have three baskets as organizational structures in my classroom causing my papers to be all over the place, students are often coming up to me during lessons to ask me what they missed or where they can get another copy. I need to stop the interruptions so others in the class can keep learning. The organizational items on this list will help me do just that! I am not the only unorganized human in the sixth grade. A lot of my kiddos would succeed at a higher degree if they had a place they could store their important things in my room. That way, they are not losing their materials, hard-work, or rubrics I hand back. Instead, they can have their own personal folder on the wall in my room to help them build better organizational habits and improve their grades at the same time. A document camera is vital to a teacher. I can use it for years. They assist kids in their ability to easily follow along with notes. With the size of my classroom, it can be hard for everyone to see what I am writing on the chalkboard. My smart board projector is in a central location in my room and would allow all of my students the equal opportunity to follow along.
