For the 2021/2022 I am excited to have my students back full time in Geography. My students are looking forward to participating in more hands-on activities and projects (SS.6-8.WGGS.27.), but I have found that we are short on supplies. In Geography we have a great opportunity to use stations activities where the containers will be filled with artifacts for students to investigate from different times in history or regions of the world. Then, they will make mini presentations about their investigations to present to the class. My classroom is short on basic materials for students, along with cleaning supplies to help keep everything clean since many items will be reused each period. My students love getting creative with projects. Students will need many craft supplies such as markers, colored pencils, and colored paper to build a National Parks project. They will research National Parks and use the classroom supplies to present their projects to the class. The paper cutter will allow me to make smaller strips for this project and for students to use as flash cards for studying for tests. We also focus on reading and writing skills (SS.6-8.WGGS.1-11.) to support students in their ELA classes. Highlighters will help students to edit their own writing. We use clear plastic sheets to protect and hang up projects or writing assignments. Individual white boards are helpful for review activities. I have also asked for some supplies to help me to support students which includes a laptop stand so I may set up my computer to help with groups. I have included additional lighting as my students enjoy working with the classroom lights off, but some students have asked if I could bring in a smaller desk lamp to help with their vision.
