Our students are excellent at using mobile devices, but often struggle with using computers for research and artwork. I want to be able to give students access to materials that they can use to promote themselves, and immediately see their design in action on a product. By doing this I believe that they will be able to see how exciting what they create really is, as well as being able to see future opportunities for themselves.
The problem with digital classes is that so often the work is just that, digital, now they will be able to bring their work into the real world. I will be able to explain the professional design process, and rather than having to ask the students to imagine their design on a t-shirt, mug, or a hat I will be able to help them actually place their design on an object that they then can use. This will also increase engagement by making the lessons more meaningful and real.
