As a social worker, delivering clinical lessons virtually to a group of students on a weekly basis can be difficult when sharing a screen on an out dated device. With this new laptop, I hope to teach my students the SEL(social-emotional learning) lessons in a more effective way. I will be able to go from one tab to another and share my screen in a more effective way. They will become more engaged with the lesson and we will have less lag time and more time for activities. SEL is the process through which students acquire and effectively apply the the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. In an effort to promote virtual hands-on learning combined with rigorous content, I am trying to update my current mode of reaching my students while introducing interesting and challenging concepts to social-emotional learning (SEL) activities …virtual. I want to model virtually, self –regulation skills as well as provide calming activities to my more diverse learners who have emotional disabilities. I want the teletherapy to be engaging and uplifting and have them wanting more so they will attend their weekly sessions with hope and anticipation.
