iPads are amazing tools to use in the special education classroom. Students are already drawn to the graphics, sounds and interactive capability that technology offers. But what is so valuable specifically for my students is that the iPad provides accommodations that they need when working on assignments.
The iPad reads for the student who is not able to read and it has voice output for students unable to speak. For students who are not able to write, the iPad offers accessibility by giving the option to tap a keyboard, select a multiple choice answer or drag and drop answers. Our classroom uses a curriculum that is offered online. While we are able to print out assignments, the iPad makes it possible to offer all of the accommodations that a student needs and cuts down on printing costs. The assignments can be saved in a folder for grading and data collection. This is a win-win for students and teachers. I hope you consider a contribution toward this valuable resource for our classroom. Thank you very much!
