My students have a strong sensory diet and require frequent breaks in academic instruction for movement and/or quiet time. Sensory support is particularly important for students who become overwhelmed easily. We have recently been provided a dedicated room to provide sensory support for my students! Those requiring extra stimulation will benefit from the use of sensory tools providing movement opportunities, such as a scooter, trampoline or exercise mat. Other students prefer quiet and calming compression provided by body socks and pods. This dedicated space will not only provide my students with a variety of sensory opportunities but will also be utilized by our Occupational and Physical Therapists when servicing my students. It's a "game changer" for my students!
