• New Novel in Ninth Grade!

• Diverse and Engaging Class Library

  These new texts have given my students chances to see their stories reflected in the pages of a book. Since completing this project, many students have met their new favorite books. It has been a gift to our community to have lots of text options!

  Each class begins with ten minutes of choice reading. Several students have expressed that this is their favorite part of the day! I feel such joy when I sit with my own book and see kids enthusiastically tucked into a story they chose.

  Specifically, the new collection of graphic novels have been well-loved. Students have gasped with delight when they see so many options. I have also been able to feature many of our new books in my rotating book display. Every two weeks, I pick six books of the same theme. Usually, I will align it with an event: Black History Month, Pride, Women's History Month, etc. That is often the first place kids go to find a new book!
