How are you and your students using the new resources? Share a specific classroom project or moment.

These new resources were ordered with the intentions of using them at the end of the school year last year 20/21to meet end of the year goals. With that being said some of the resources are still waiting for our young minds to explore. However, the resources we have used so far have been quite versatile. The vocabulary picture cards have proven to elicit colorful excitement for phonological awareness and phonics routines for our thriving littles. The letter locks have posed opportunities for letter and team building work. The magnitiles have been used to extend creative mathematical practices, engineering, phonemic awareness, colors, number sense, sorting and so much more! The positional game has provided spatial awareness understanding data and lots of fun! The rhyming house resource will be used shortly as we dive deeper in rhyme in small groups and centers. The scholastic magizines provide a huge variety of diverse texts and comtents that these young minds can immerse themselves in. We are beyond grateful for all these resources and the ones we are still looking forward to using.

How did your students react when they first saw the materials?

When first presented with these new learning resources they were clearly excited and ready to dive right in and use them to play and transfer their learning they have gained thus far. They were thrilled when these resources were included during learning center times where they could freely move and engage with each of them at their own pace and when give free choice centers. Their excitement prompted higher levels of active engagement in their own learning which allowed myself and support staff to obtain more authentic data to better adjust instruction to better meet their needs and interests.

Your donors got a little peek into your classroom by contributing to your project, and we know that they'd love to learn more. What are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?

These resources will become more center to small group teacher led learning to scaffold further understanding of phonological awareness such as beginning sounds and end sounds as well as rhyming and letter sound knowledge.

As these students become more consistent with counting, making sets and recall of numerals I plan to introduce the more advanced math resources (+-)in whole/small groups and then allow them to be used during centers freely.

We are so excited to use these resources all year long and in so many different ways. We are beyond words for the support provided to our classroom by you. Your donations have and will continue to enhance our learning experiences in Prek and we are more than happy to continue to share how these resources keep our youngest minds growing this year in our classroom. Thank you times a million!!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Young
