  • No Child Without a Pencil

    Funded Feb 12, 2025

On behalf of all of my students, I wanted to sincerely thank you to those who donated to our project. Because of your kindness and generosity, students now have access to pencils at all times.

Students are now able to grab a pencil from the box without asking, making the most of our limited instruction time. Instead of worrying about collecting writing utensils, I can now say without worry: "please feel free to use it in your next class."

You have improved the quality of instruction, writing, and have given my students a stress free way to get started on their activities. Thank you so much! You are appreciated”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sharkey

  • College and Community Service Collaboration Whiteboards

    Funded Nov 2, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my class! Having a place to collaborate together in real time has been a game changer for my students! Students have been able to work together in groups, share ideas in real time, map out their plans and present to other teams of students and adults.

The white boards have helped my other classes as well, providing them with an opportunity to create and share their work and take pride in their collaborative efforts. I am able to see students gain confidence, work together, and elaborate and explain their ideas and plans for the future. And what's more, students are able to see it themselves. Thank you again for your help giving my students this experience!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sharkey

  • Mrs. Sharkey's Hands-on History Class

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. In supporting my history classroom, you have shown that you see the necessity of a civic education, and the value of students learning about how our past will impact our present and our future.

With the calculators, I have been able to incorporate more graphs and statistics into the curriculum, and we will never run out of pencils thanks to you. Students can now have a place to charge their laptops and other devices. You are making my work and their learning so much easier. Thank you for supporting our community!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sharkey

  • Read and Feed for the Year

    Funded Nov 18, 2024

Thank you so much for seeing the importance of our project! My students and I are so incredibly grateful for your generous donation. It may not seem like much, but being able to hand out food to anyone who is hungry will make such a difference in how kids look at school and learning. We appreciate you!”

  • Wellness and Fun in Mrs. Sharkey's High School Classroom

    Funded Aug 12, 2024

Thank you so very much for your kindness and generosity in funding this project. The ability to offer students an outlet and to find healthy ways of expression in school is such an incredible gift. We could not have done this without you! Ok behalf of my students, thank you!”

  • Mrs. Sharkey's Avid Classroom

    Funded May 16, 2023

You will not believe the incredible difference your donation has made. Students were able to start the year fully supplied and didn't have to worry about buying their AVID materials. The looks of relief from many around the room was a sight I cannot forget. I was able to hand out pencils, pens, highlighters, and post it notes to all those in need. I was able to offer materials to every student, so no one felt singled out or ostracized due to need. I thank you for your kindness and generosity. You have made the year so incredibly bright!”

  • Meso American History and Culture Stations

    Funded Mar 10, 2020

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity in funding this project for my middle school students. With your help, we were able to set up different stations for all 180 students. Each day students were able to create clay ocarinas, yarn quipus, analyze primary source documents, grind maize with stone tools, and make hand-made tortillas from scratch. The materials you supplied allowed me to set up my stations for two years, and many of the materials were able to be reused throughout the year to make student learning more fun and enjoyable. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sharkey

  • Mrs. Sharkey's 2022 Project

    Funded Jan 26, 2022

Thank you again for donating to my class during this historical time. Your generosity has made all the difference to how I teach and how I reach my students. We were able to get binders and supplies to students who needed them the most, as well as help make our learning space unique with different decorations. The addition of a recycling bin means that our on campus environment club can easily pick up our cans and bottles and model practical recycling habits to all my students. Students use the headphones to watch documentaries and videos essential to historical learning. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

  • Avid Fun Friday Games and Activities

    Funded Mar 24, 2024

I just wanted to thank you again for your donations to our classroom. The variety of games and activities you helped to provide our class has made a huge impact in the way that students interact with each other. Students have been enjoying the company of their peers and are able to connect in a non-academic setting. It has been refreshing to see my post-Covid students taking charge, explaining rules, inviting others to play, and modeling what sportsmanlike conduct is. Most Fridays students have a variety of activities to choose from and they now have an incentive to finish their work. Thank you!”

With the materials provided, students will be able to explore the histories and cultures of the Meso Americans in a unique and hands on way. Most of my students identify as Hispanic or Latino and have close relatives living in a country with ties to the Mayan, Incan, and Aztec civilizations. This will be a two week long rotating set of activities where students will model ocarinas in the Mayan fashion using clay while learning about Mayan art and history. Students will participate in archaeological digs, haul their own dirt, and carefully catalogue artifacts while studying archeological methodologies. While grinding maize and cooking masa into fresh tortillas, students will read traditional recipes and primary sources from women who lived centuries ago. Students will make quipus and learn how the Incans kept records without a written language. In addition to the hands on stations, students will be exposed to primary and secondary sources, read, write, analyze art and watch relevant documentaries on the lives and culture of the Meso Americans. The culminating activity will be a Mayan ball game competition between students.
