In 7th grade we do a unit on The Outsiders which is a story that focuses on the 1950s. While we are studying this unit, it is difficult for these kiddos to fully understand what life was like without all this modern technology, so we try to compare life in the 1950s to today. This will require them to GET UP and move! This project will allow my students to engage with the material in a way that they wouldn't normally have access to. For this unit, students will be asked to put their cell phones and other technology away and get their hula hoop on! They will be able to experience what life was like for teenagers prior to the advanced technology they enjoy today.
