After receiving a grant from Fiesta Bowl - Wishes for Teachers, our faculty and staff were asked:
"If you were granted any wish for tools for your classroom, what would you wish for?"
From incubators for Life Science, where students can learn how chicks develop and hatch to learning how to bowl in physical education, teachers find ways to match state standards with student interests. From learning circuitry in science to developing tactile and fine motor skills in special education, our students can develop interests through learning and play that can lead them to success in their future.
All materials are being ordered online.
Adaptive toys, lights, books, letter and number puzzles, adapted seating, adapted headphones, adapted thermometer, and all sensory toys are for the self-contained special education classroom. Though state standards still apply, students in this classroom make progress through interactive play and learning both academically and physically. Grade levels include kindergarten through 8th grade.
Supplies ordered of markers, paper, glue, pencils, erasers, etc. are for student use during lessons and will be shared among several grade levels. As students in Jr. High will be learning about solar energy, those kits will be distributed to the 7th and 8th-grade science teacher.
Kits for Life Cycle of a Bean Plant and Life Cycle of Insects are being taught in the 2nd grade. Those materials, as well as all fidgets, will be distributed to those teachers.
Dodgeball and bowling are being taught in elementary Physical Education classes in order to prepare students for the end of the year "STUDENTS vs TEACHERS" competition games.
