  • Bright Start Makes All the Difference

    Funded Aug 20, 2024

Thank you so much for your support, it is great to see all the difference materials make in the lives of my students. It takes very little to make them happy and I thank you from the bottom of my heart at helping them this way. It changes their day in a positive way when their work comes to life and in being able to transition from one activity to another without the need of having to go search or buy new supplies. Every day the challenges of my students get less as they are able to use the things that we have in the classroom..”

  • Just the Basics of Learning

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

A million "Thank You's" is not enough for all the support you have given to our classroom, the impact every item that was donated is immense and will always be cherished and appreciated.

Given that some of my students come from a low income home they have the chance to explore, play and enjoy activities that may not have been at their disposal. It is always amazing to see their faces light up with excitement when a shipment arrives and are able to get their hands on the materials. Being able to use each material is a chance to bring out a new sensory experience that is a great way to learn and have that core memory made.”

  • Starting Off the School Year Full of Color!

    Funded Aug 16, 2022

The gratitude will never be enough, our students are gaining so much for your donation. They are being indulged in the ability to use the paint on a more consistent basis, and seeing all the different colors that are available to them. Art is a subject that no matter what your cognitive ability your have will make an impact.

Students have taken up Art as a daily activity (when possible), and enjoying every moment of each activity, no matter if its cutting up construction paper, using our brand new paint brushes, or painting up our crafts.

Again Thank you so much for all your support to K1”

  • Color Makes a Huge Difference!!!

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

Thank you so much for all your support, the impact that the color printer had in our classroom was great!! The students have had the ability to see items in real color when I explain different things, and be able to explore items when given experiences. The students have even had the to first hand see how the items will appear on the computer screen and within seconds that same picture is in their hands. It has been eye opening experience for all.

Technology makes such a difference in a Moderate to Severe Classroom. it gives students much more opportunity to see all the different colors that the world gives, plus the ability to see more than the basic Black and White..”

  • Virtual Experience

    Funded Dec 9, 2020

First off we hope you and your families are all safe and healthy. Our staff and students can not thank you enough for all the generosity you have shown our students especially during this unusual time.

The resources that you donated to my students had brought so much happiness to my students and came at the perfect time in their educational lives. It was such a joy to see their little faces light up (even over zoom) when they received their supplies. The white boards and white board markers were a hit with them and came in handy during our zoom lessons. This week our project will focus on Earth Day which the students are looking forward to especially since they have so many colors to choose from the crayon box.

P.S. My students wanted me to send you a big virtual hug for all the supplies you donated to our classroom and for thinking of them.”

    With gratitude,

  • Being Able to Give My Students That Ability to Communicate.

    Funded Aug 31, 2020

I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You.. Thank You so much for all your support and giving me the ability to give my students the ability to access their education while in this difficult time. Students were ecstatic to see the new materials that they would be able to keep and use to their benefit at home, they enjoyed the ability to open the new markers and manipulate the materials at their own pace and in the comfort of their own home. Students and parents were very happy to see that people in the community did care about them enough to want to help them process during this troubling time we are experiencing due to the pandemic. Students have had to stay in their home and have had to develop a whole new set of skills in order to continue their education. The skills range from having to sit down for longer periods of time, being able to be more independent while working at home, learning to spread their time in order to complete assignments, and the most important skill which is to be accountable to be on time to their Zoom class meetings. Progress has come at a slower pace than usual, but with the help of all the materials received they have been able to not fall as behind as they could have if no one cared enough to help, and we have you the donors to thank for that.

Student's abilities may be limited due to their cognition, but given the right materials and opportunities they can strive. You have given my students this opportunity, and they have taken it and flourished. They are able to communicate their wants, needs and responses in a timely manner, as the pictures show they have been given the ability to draw pictures, practice their letters, numbers, and give responses to a question asked.

Students have been able to practice the ability to write their names, over and over even if they make a mistake they can easily erase and redo to get it right. Students are able to differentiate from work they have completed or still need to complete by using different colors. Students are able to use the colors to make differences in what they were correct in or not. Students are not just able to do academic work on the white board but also use them to write notes for special occasions such as birthdays or holidays. One recent example is when I was having my birthday last month, my assistants and them got together and wrote "Happy Birthday" greetings and surprised me with the wonderful notes in the middle of our Zoom meeting call.

The changes in education have come in a time where we were forced to redo our whole education system, but for teachers that care enough to find the help students need it is a blessing to have programs such as Donors Choose to help in make these a reality.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Solis

I'd like to give my students the ability to communicate and be heard. Even if at home, they will be able to be heard and get the most appropriate and feasible education. Being able to express themselves and their emotions is key to their emotional well being and gives them independence. It gives parents also the peace of mind and understanding that even if their children may be challenged in other areas, learning and understanding is within their possibilities to succeed. All is greatly appreciated and will be cherished for a long period of time.
