  • Building Healthy Habits in APE

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Your donation continues to help my students regularly during their APE sessions. We use the yoga mats for yoga and stretching, and as a boundary for maintaining our own space. The talking pedometers have been fun to use for the older students to track their fitness.

All of these materials have made our classes more fun and engaging. Even the quiet moments we spend on the mat have become important in giving students a moment of quiet before transitioning to other activities.

We appreciate your donation and know that we will continue to benefit from all of the equipment for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Terri

  • Staying Active at Home! Adapted PE Kits for Distance Learning

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Thank you again for your generous donations. They have given my students the opportunity to practice many skills that we would be doing if we were in person. The equipment gives us more options when planning Adapted PE sessions.

The bells, in particular, are a big hit! One parent shared that they are using the bells while her child is dancing, and she loves the sound.

Distance learning is still challenging. But these materials make everything a little easier both in and out of class. Parents have told me that students are using using equipment during the play time at home too, which is such a fun way to develop their interest in PE, practice skills and engage with their siblings/family.

I am so thankful for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Terri

As an Adapted PE teacher, I modify games, activities and equipment so that everyone can be successful. My students LOVE to move and participate in physical activity. With the right adaptations to activities and equipment, my students have the opportunity to try a wide range of sports and games. My students with visual impairments receive most information from their tactile and auditory senses. This means using sounds like my voice, bells or making noises with equipment or furniture. It also includes equipment with various textures and sounds to give my students some sensory input.
