  • Interactive Learning

    Funded Oct 22, 2020

    Thank you so much for funding my project on interactive learning. I was so happy and excited to be funded during the beginning of the school year. This had made a big difference in teaching my students throughout the school year.

    It took some time to introduce the use of Nearpod within my remote and in person students that I service but over time they began to enjoy it and ask if we will be using Nearpod during my lessons. This helped to keep my students engaged who are 100% remotely learning as well as my students who come to school to learn during these difficult times.

    I've been able to figure out the students who needed more support during live instruction using Nearpod compared to just posting Google Slides for them to complete on their own time. Nearpod has made my students excited to learn again especially when they are at home. Everyday I'm learning new ways to use Nearpod and so are my students.”

  • Learning Language Through Technology!

    I truly appreciate everyone who funded my project on Language Learning Through Technology. I was funded in March right before schools switched to remote learning. For the brief time I was able to use the tablets, it really helped prepare my students for using the Ipads they later received to continue their learning at home.

    My students were able to experiment with the language learning apps and software that was offered on the tablets to download. These language learning apps and software helped with their English language acquisition and making connections to the words on the text and their native language. It also allowed my students to finally be able to use resources that they can look up and see without having to figure it out with no visual context such as google pictures and YouTube.

    Without the use of these tablets within my classroom, the transition to remote learning would have been more difficult for my students and their families. I'm happy that your donation has made an important impact on how children are currently learning and provided an opportunity for my students to experiment with technology they weren't used to. These will be skills that will help them continue to grow as language learners through the power of technology.”

There aren't a lot of tablets or Chromebooks available for my students to use within the classes that I push into. Also, I want to be able to use the language apps that I can download onto these tablets for stations within my pull out classes. This would help bridge that gap between their home language and the English language. As with language learning, it's important to know what the vocabulary and grammar means in your own language before being able to transfer it into the new language. These language apps on the tablets would help create this bridge of language learning.
