  • Wireless Microphones Allow Students Voices to Be Heard Safely

    I can hear it now… the excitement in my students voices as they use their new audio equipment! Thanks to your generous donations, anyone listening to their videos can hear them too!

    Due to current Covid trends, our district will start the school year requiring everyone to wear masks. Student safety is obviously very important, but I was concerned their voice would be sacrificed. I am so glad my students will have the tools to be heard clearly.

  • Digital Arts Students Show Their School Local Career Opportunities

    The Raub Middle School Digital Media Club and choir are very grateful for the opportunity to have a virtual visit with the employees at Martin guitar. The students and faculty learned a lot from the exciting experience.

    Currently, using the WeVideo software purchased through Donors Choose, the Digital Media Club is creating a video highlighting some of the things they learned about designing and building guitars. The video will be shared in the What's So Cool About Manufacturing Video Competition. You will be able to see that video from April 7th-9th and vote for Raub's video about Martin Guitar at this link https://www.whatssocool.org/contests/lehigh-valley/.     We are so grateful for your support. Currently, our school is 100% remote, so using a web-based, collaborative software was essential in our participation in the video competition. We will be able to share with our school and even worldwide all that we have learned about manufacturing and designing careers from Martin Guitars. Also, we have been using WeVideo to create and share other videos.

What do you want to be when you grow up? This question has been asked to middle school students everywhere; but most adolescents do not know about their local career opportunities. Students in the R Digital Media Arts Club will be paired with a local Manufacturing Company through the "What's So Cool About Manufacturing?" Video competition. Students in the club will work with professional mentors to get a sneak peak inside a local manufacturing plant, learn about local career opportunities and obtain advice for personal success. Following this experience, the club students will create a video, so the entire student body at FDR Middle School can benefit from wisdom the students participating in the virtual tour obtained. With We Video Software, students can collaborate virtually, demonstrate a tour a local manufacturer and teach their peers about potential careers.
