In my classroom, we have a few options of flexible seats that my students absolutely love, unfortunately, they are not able to access them every day because of the number of students and how few options we have. However, I have noticed that my students work better when they're comfortable and they love to snuggle up in a cozy space to read during Silent Sustained Reading. Classrooms should feel like a home, a home where students enjoy being and want to show up to every day. As teachers, we create environments that students love through engaging lesson plans and through our love emanating for them every day with hugs, high fives, and positive reinforcements. The structure of a space can make students feel safe and loved, too. I want my students to enjoy school, and hope that implementing flexible seating will help do that.
