With the 3rd grade reading law going into effect this year the students need to be able to pass the state test or prove that they can read on grade level in order to matriculate to the next grade. Providing these computers to the students will really inspire the students to want to learn. This will also give me the opportunity to work with a smaller group of students so I can differential their lessons, while the other students are working on the computer. I will use the computers to give my students extra practice with reading by using Read Theory and Reading Works websites to help improve the students reading skills. Students need plenty of practice on the computer so that taking the test on the computer will be natural for them. I will also use the computers to have my students practice on Khan Academy to reinforce the Eureka math lessons that I am teaching. This will help the students improve their math skills. Lastly, I will use the computers for my Academic Games team to improve their math, reading, and social studies skills. This will help them to be more competitive and knowledgeable when they attend tournaments. Working on the computer will also help the students to be prepared for the world. Students must learn how to use technology in order to be successful now and in the future.
