I love being a school counselor and helping students discover their passions however, middle school is also a challenging time. Students have to navigate tougher academics while balancing their self-identity, friendships, family obligations, social media, changes in their body and hormones. As a counselor, we provide extensive support around basic coping skills with the goal of preparing our students' with life long skills to deal with stressful times in their life in a positive and healthy way. The books selected, Anxiety Sucks and 7 Habits of a Highly Effective Teens, explain the skills in a teenage-friendly way. The stress balls are for those students that need something to help them focus and concentrate.
