  • Color Is Important for Us to Learn

    Funded Jan 1, 2020

You are amazing. In our classroom, we tend to be visual learners. Color can make all the difference in helping us learn to read, to learn words and how to spell them, to learn how to do math problems, to learn about our world, to learn how to apply reading, math and science in our everyday lives. You have made a world of difference in our learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Waters

  • Laminating Means Projects Last Longer

    Funded Dec 29, 2019

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. This will give me the opportunity to refresh our projects and update them with the words we have been studying this year. My students need constant reinforcement. Because of your generosity, my TA and I can create new project sheets for our students visual needs.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Waters

My students struggle with communication skills. An HP Chromebook will help them work independently by using the Speech to Text and the Text to Speech features. Two of my students do not have the dexterity to use a mouse or trackpad. So a touch screen is imperative for their learning. We use Unique Learning Systems and TeachTown multiple times a day. These programs are very important for my students' growth. The ULS program collects summative and formative data for each student and supports analysis, goal setting and progress monitoring. It has interactive lessons that help my students with their communication skills, social skills, and math skills. TeachTown program helps improve the academic, behavioral, and adaptive functioning of students with disabilities. More importantly, since I have received a Chromebook as my teacher computer, it has made my students more responsive to a computer. Their eyes light up when ULS lets them know they have the answer right and gives them the opportunity to correct it their answer is wrong. They are learning to use a keyboard more efficiently. It is difficult for me to get other things done (such as reporting my attendance and other necessary reporting) when I have students on my computer. It would be a more efficient classroom if they were working on their own computer rather than on mine.
