My students miss out on so much because of our misleading economic double coding. When they create projects for classes, they often do not fully represent what the students are capable of because of a lack of resources. When our teachers present key topics, they lack the visual representations and manipulatives that assist in deeper understanding. Often, at state competitions, our students are underscored on their visual representations because they are not able to create the flashy signs that other schools have the resources for. We want our kids to have a level playing field. Our students deserve a chance to express themselves using modern technology. Adding this one item to our maker space, housed in the library, will allow almost 700 students and staff to better show what they are capable of and will give our students a better shot at a level playing field in education.
