We are requesting two Chromebooks and headphones for the technology they need to develop real world skills. Chromebooks in the classroom will open a world of possibilities for my students. They are so motivated by the use of technology, they think its a treat. Chromebooks in the classroom would allow students to work independently and at their own pace. They have the freedom to choose their work in our classrooms, but we've been limited to when they can use technology. I have many activities planned for the school year. I would love to start a Genius Hour for students to do independent research projects on topics that interest them. They would start with asking a question then work through the research process. They will learn how to do internet research and find credible sources. Student will be able to use different Microsoft Office programs to organize and present their information to their classmates. We also have a program called Study Island that the students can work on their low academic areas to practice their skills more frequently. In the past, I have also had students use a website for practicing their typing skills. With limited time in the tech labs, I haven't been able to introduce that practice to this group of students. Classroom access to technology would allow for more time on these online resources.
