Staying Hydrated in our Classroom
Funded May 8, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donation!
My students are so excited about these water bottles. Due to COVID-19, they are not allowed to use the water fountain. This means they either have to bring in their own water bottle or I have to give them a cup. As you can imagine, I have run out of cups pretty quickly.
Our school has no AC so it gets very warm. The students are constantly getting water. Now they have their own very nice water bottles to do so. These bottles are very high quality, so they will last the year.
Thank you for giving my students their own water bottles for better accessibility to water during COVID-19.”

Breathing Easy in Our Room
Funded Apr 5, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donation!
Our school is very old and very dry. I have many students with medical conditions including allergies and asthma. This makes our class a tough place to learn on dry days.
This humidifier has really improved our classroom environment. It is a nice quiet machine that puts out a lot of water into the air. The air in our room is completely different. My students are noticably more comfortable now.
My students skin, lungs, and overall health as improved. Thank you for making our room a better place to be!”

Remote Learning Snacks Pt 2
Funded May 8, 2021Thank you so much for giving my students food to help them fuel their brains. Many of my students come from homes that cannot afford to feed their families full meals. This results in a lot of students coming in hungry. When a child is hungry they are not going to be able to do their best work in school.
I was able to send home a bag of food with each of my students. They went home knowing they had food to eat when they felt hungry. This is a luxury many of us take for granted.
My students were so thankful for the food! They saw the boxes of food and couldn't believe it was for them. They were exploding with emotion and gratitude.
Thank you for filling their stomachs so I can fill their minds.”

Funded Dec 1, 2020Thank you for giving my students these wonderful gifts. They do not often get much around holidays and birthdays. They watch others get amazing things and know they won't be able to share in the excitement due to their families financial situations.
You gave them something to open. Something to share with friends and family. Something to be excited about during that time.
They were so excited to see bags for them. While gifts are not everything, these made them feel special and included. Thank you for lighting up their lives.”

Funded Dec 31, 2020Thank you for bringing my classroom to life! My students were so excited after being out of the classroom for a year to see how bright and fun the classroom had become! We are always getting compliments about our room! My students will even bring in other staff and students to see the classroom. I love watching the pride flow out of them as they share their space with others!
Our library is a place where books are organized and presented neatly. The students can get a book and place it back knowing exactly where it came from thanks to the bins.
Our classroom has become a space they feel comfortable, safe, and proud of... I can't thank you enough for that!”

Rewarding Readers
Funded Nov 23, 2020Being in an urban substantially separate emotionally impaired classroom, we learn about new texts in a number of different ways. My students are learning to read at very different paces. Some can read independently and some are still working on basic phonetics. Being in a social-emotional classroom, we talk a lot about being kind, accepting others, and loving yourself and peers. We talk often as a class about what makes people unique. We also talk about race, culture, and different backgrounds.
My students have a variety of reading levels. These books allow me to provide them books at their reading level that are interesting to them! Thank you for opening their minds to a world of reading at their level!”

Funded Nov 23, 2020Thank you so much for your generosity!
During this hard time of unknowns my students need a little more to help them get through each day. In the past, we had a shared class sensory bin for everyone to use. Obviously, this year we cannot do that!
My students have have emotional disabilities / impairments and trauma. This makes self regulation and coping with their feelings and emotions very difficult. They rely on sensory tools to remain calm and regulated. I couldn't imagine a year where they did not have access to these tools.
Due to your kindness and generosity we don't have to deprive these students of these amazing and very necessary tools.
You have greatly changed our year for the better, and room 214 cannot thank you enough for that!”
