The goal is for our students to use their imagination as well as STEM to build a pumpkin catapult using LEGO bricks, rubberbands and candy pumpkins. Students will work in teams to design their catapult and we will test them out using candy pumpkins to see which catapult sends the pumpkin the furthest. After testing our catapults we will discuss and troubleshoot and then try again. The coding train will be used to introduce our students to hands-on coding. They have worked on coding on computers but I think having a physical item to code will be helpful. This is just the first of many projects we will use LEGO items for.
