Students with autism benefit from access to visual supports for aiding with communication, understanding routines and schedules, and helping access academic content. Students feel more independent when they can use these supports to manage themselves rather than depending on constant teacher verbal prompting. Currently my school only has black and white printing available. Having access to a color printer would allow me to create visual supports and schedules that are attractive and more interesting to the students, and ultimately help them be more successful. These supports will be used in both the special education and general education classrooms, as well as for after-school programs, field trips, and home use.
