My students are singers and they sing very well. They sing songs everything from nursery songs to rap. I like to sing as well and when I was a child I wanted to play the piano. I want my students to have the opportunity to have access to musical instruments and to realize that they can actually make their own music. I want my students to realize that music does not just come from the radio. I once observed a child sit down at a piano and play. I had to take a second look because the sound that the child created was beautiful. Not everyone can play instruments but if you expose a child to them, it certainly piqued that child's interest. Once the child is interested, the musical world is their oyster.
