  • Making Learning Visible & Revisable

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Words cannot describe my gratitude for your generosity and support. These supplies will truly help me make a difference in the education of my students and I cannot wait to start to use them in class on a regular basis. Your generosity and support are greatly appreciated for the impact that they make on educating young minds.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Barresi

  • Expanding Robotics With Edison!

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you all for your incredible support of my classroom. Thanks to your generosity & support, my students have been able to take their programming skills and robotics understanding to the next level.

My students have taken great interest in jumping right to some of the more challenging programs that these expansion sets offer, and as a result, our program now has a small battalion of miniature robotic tanks that our students are learning to program and run autonomously. As soon as my students saw the option to take their robots to that next level they instantly decided to challenge themselves both in terms of construction and programming, and I could not be more proud of them.

Many students have now expressed an interest in pursuing STEM related careers and college degrees as a direct result of these projects, and as a result my school is actively considering ways to incorporate this into our existing curricula. Again, I cannot you all enough for your generous support of our program.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Barresi

  • Advancing Robotics With Advanced Robotics

    Funded Mar 29, 2022

I would like to thank you all for kind and generous support. Thanks to your assistance my students now have the opportunity to push forward on their learning as they build and program robots.

My students were very excited to see the box arrive and when we opened up and saw the new robots everyone perked up. It was honestly a well needed morale boost on an overcast day.

We are all very much looking forward to integrating the robots that you all helped us purchase into our existing projects. Some of the more advanced students will be using these new robots to complete a series of challenges that will be sure to inspire them to pursue further STEM education in college, while the less experienced students will shadow in order to learn more on their own.

I am always grateful for the help and support that you all provide to not just my classroom, but all classrooms that depend on programs such as these.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Barresi

  • Minds-On Robotics with Lego Mindstorms!

    Funded Dec 30, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity in helping this project take off. I cannot begin to describe my immense gratitude for your support. When the Mindstorm kits arrived in the middle of the day, my students went wild they were so excited to get to work on projects. Everyone jumped in to help inventory and organize the materials, and to help find storage space in my already packed classroom.

Unfortunately, just as my students got to start building and learning with the kits, NYC schools shut down for remote learning for the remainder of the school year. From March until June, my students and I were unable to set foot inside of my classroom, and my students were unable to complete their projects as intended.

That is why I took so long to write this thank you, because I kept holding out hope that sometime before the end of the school year I would be able to tell you all about the wonderful experiences my students had thanks to your generosity. I had hoped that I would be able to upload pictures and videos of my students completing robotics challenges from the kits, and demonstrating what they learned for you to see first hand the impact of your donations.

Instead, I am going to thank you for the impact that your donations will have on future students. At some point in the future students will be able to come together and collaborate in classrooms again, and at that your donations will appreciated more than ever before. So I am thanking you all in advance for the wonderful opportunity you have helped me establish for my future students. I am sure they will be able to appreciate your donations in a whole new manner than we originally envisioned.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Barresi

STEM education has placed a heavy emphasis on problem-solving and engineering practices. Many schools have created robotics programs in order to help students explore this new and exciting learning opportunity that focuses on problem-solving skills, engineering, and collaborative learning. As a new program at my school, many of my students have little to no experience with robotics but are willing and excited to learn. With these Lego Mindstorm kits, I can help these students start their robotics program and advise them on their new and innovative learning experience, rooted in 21st century thinking and practices. We are a new club and we have no money to start this program and no supplies to help these students learn more about robotics aside from a single robot that has been donated from a family member. We are looking to eventually compete in nationwide programs, but we need these kits to help learn the basics of robotics instruction so that my students can feed this newfound interest of theirs.
