Flexible seating allows students to choose options that support their individual learning styles, create comfortable spaces that help students focus and are ideal for using technology, collaborating and more.
Students feel empowed when they can take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Currently my students work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at different tables, sitting on the carpet with clip boards, or sitting or laying on the floor with a clip board and sitting at their desks. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed that students love going to my reading area which has a small pink table and chairs and two inflatable chairs. This area is their first choice to sit!
With my small groups will work on skill and strategies at a Kidney table and at a small table. These groups consist of 4-6 students.
Often, chairs legs become caught with the table legs and other chair legs. I've even had students with "the wiggles" to fall out of the chair during instruction. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed!
I can't wait to see the positive effects of alternative seating in my class!
