43% of my students speak English as a second language. It is incredibly hard for them to fully grasp the concepts I am teaching without being able to see, feel, and picture what I'm talking about. I am constantly Googling pictures and finding videos to give my students background knowledge of the topics we are learning. This Robox 3D printer will change my students' learning experience in the most effective way. In Social Studies, when teaching about Native American culture, I will be able to print out a model of artifacts, such as arrowheads and tools used for cooking. I'll be able to show my students what a Native American home in the 1700's looked like. I'll be able to provide for them a hands-on learning experience; an experience they need and deserve. In Science, when teaching about fossils, I'll be able to print a model of a trace fossil and show them what a trackway fossil looks like. I'll be able to print the skull of a dinosaur and show my students the dinosaur's head. I'll be able to explain that we can tell that this dinosaur was a meat-eater, just by looking at the shape of his mouth and teeth. I might not be able to take my students to a Native American or a Dinosaur museum to see these things in real life, but with your help I can provide them with 3D models that will resemble the real life items. I know that a multi-sensory curriculum is exactly what my students need in order to succeed, and I'm hopeful that this project will get funded and that I can bring a Robox 3D printer to my school for lots of classes to enjoy.
