These materials will allow me to implement differentiated book clubs that include all students no matter the reading or comprehension level. With multiple copies of each book, I will have the resources to create meaningful groupings of students that encourage dialogue, partnerships, community, and activities specifically created for those students. These books will ensure that each student is taught to educational standards while being fully engaged and invested in what they are reading. Our book clubs typically last 2-3 weeks. Every book club starts with an expectation guide and community building activity. Students then select their book by choice vote and they are free to dive in. Daily journal writing prompts, in a letter to the teacher format, encourages deeper thinking about the text with a focus on comprehension and vocabulary. Students have daily opportunities to collaborate with peers, while book club groups meet once a week for sharing and reflection. Your donation ensures that students are reading text that matters to them! These texts generates continued reading interest and positive literacy outcomes. The primary goal of this project is to create engaged readers, the secondary outcome becomes that every student reads at or above grade level text. Your donation matters! My students and and I thank you.
