Help Start a Music Program For Students with Disabilities!

Over the past few months, I have been getting to know the incredible students of P811Q in Queens, New York. These students have been thrilled to be making music in their classroom, and so much of that is because of your generous donations. We have been learning fundamental musical concepts (some of us for the first time) and busily preparing for our upcoming production of the Nutcracker. We have been using our new rhythm sticks to learn about the musical elements and basic rhythm notation, and our new desk bells to explore concepts such as pitch, melody, and harmony.

These students, who come with a wide variety of physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges benefit enormously from having these resources. Without the bells and claves that you graciously provided, music class at 811q would be rather bare and abstract. With these items, it is a place of musical exploration and wonder, where the concepts we learn come to life. I cannot thank you enough.
