  • Adding Color to Our Printed Art to Enrich our Learning.

    Thank you for your great generosity donating the color printer! The art students and I at Hillcrest Elementary greatly appreciate your donation and your sacrifice.

    Your support helps to bring student creativity to another level. Students love to see a copy of their artwork in color. Now they can share their works of art with more people.

    I am also able to print in color to show students what a work of art looks like in full color instead of grayscale.

  • A Sketch a Day Helps Creativity Stay!

    Thank you so much for the sketchbooks! My students are going to enjoy drawing sketches and pictures in the books everyday. They will be able to look back and see how their artistic abilities have grown throughout the school year.

    I love that my students will be able to take their sketchbooks home at the end of the year to keep as a momento for themselves and to show off their talents to family and friends!”

If each of my students can have their own sketchbook on the first day of class, they will feel ownership and take pride in each drawing they create. Art journals/ sketchbooks are a visual, and sometimes verbal, record of thoughts and ideas which help my kids deal with emotions and situations in their lives. I encourage my art kids to take notes in their sketchbooks and draw every day which improves their drawing ability and observational skills. Sketchbook assignments are given every week which helps their ideas grow and fosters creativity. When a project is given, several students refer back to their sketchbook for ideas and inspiration.
