Funded Apr 9, 2024Thanks to your donations: we will use our outdoor learning center for our children to incorporate into all aspects of their academics -- including writing, reading, science, math, and social studies -- as well as to nurture social-emotional health.
Time in the garden will teach my students about team building and promote communication skills. We will plan a garden, plant the seeds and watch them grow, which will give kids a sense of purpose and responsibility. Students will make sure that the plants get enough fertilizer, water, and sun fosters mindfulness.
Gardening teaches a lot of emotional development as they learn about failure and disappointment as well as success. The students will also learn about the plant's needs which helps them learn about other living things needs. Learning to take care of a living thing has untold benefits.
Through professional development, I will be able to acquire new teaching strategies to benefits my students at out outdoor learning lab by providing effective lessons that will ensure their growth.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Shannon
