Good Ideas Need to Be Shared! Help Us Read to Succeed!
Funded Nov 6, 2019I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the books and materials that you have generously donated to my class. It is a great feeling when a student, that has finished all their work, goes to the bookshelf, and eagerly grabs a book they have wanted to read.
In this day and age, we have so many "supposed to do's" in our lives. There are curriculum requirements that must be taught, lessons that must be gone over, tests that must be taken, and skills that must be mastered. Sometimes we forget that it is extremely important to be able to carve out a little "you time." Reading a book gives you some of that you- time where you can allow your mind to relax; a book can take you away from everything that might be stressing you out, and give you a break. That is what these books have given my students. They need a break. They need the opportunity to read for the sheer joy of reading. It's much different than reading for your class. Even if the novel chosen is a great novel, it's still reading because you have to. These books are being read because the student's want to read them. I have student's who are on a waiting list to read some of the books. They love that they are new releases. Since a lot don't have access to constant WIFI, it is wonderful to be able to give them the physical book to read.
It has also been great to have the easel and post-its. They make group projects easier to control and display. The students enjoy showing off their work. We are able to utilize all space in the classroom as well as in the hallways without damaging the walls. This gives us the freedom to use every inch of space possible!
Your donation has helped in many ways, and I thank you for being so generous.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Lazan
