  • Imagination Take Me Away!

    Thank you so much for your generosity! When the activity table arrived I was so excited to quickly put it together and enjoy the excitement of my students! Students with special learning needs often have difficulty taking turns and participating in imaginative play. These new fun materials are engaging and are of high interest to our learners.

    When the students came to school and saw the activity table they ran straight to it. They begun investigating each bucket to see what materials were in them. Next they noticed the table with the different sections. Before I knew it three students were working together to build a zoo! You should have heard them, naming animals, creating sections, and using play doh to make food! While I did have to support in helping solve social problems I know these resources will be huge in moving our students to meet their goals!

    I can't wait to continue to help build communication and social skills with the use of these amazing materials!”

The use of these materials will help develop my students' ability to interact with letters and books in a meaningful way. The light table will allow students to build letters and words. Students in my classroom love the alphabet, but it is my job to inspire them to go from rote knowledge of letters to young readers. The light table will help develop this interest in learning sounds and creating letter blends, while the binding machine will help me adapt books to engage my scholars. Further, social stories will be created to help students develop their social and emotional skills. Literacy is an important part of child development. By supporting this initiative, you are helping students learn that they matter and giving them the tools to spell their names, read, and contribute to the world!
