5th Grade Novel Study
Funded Dec 16, 2020Thank you so much for donating the novel Tuck Everlasting to my classroom. The students were thrilled with the opportunity to take a break from our normal reading book and read a classic. We were able to learn all about figurative language, plot elements, and problem/solution through this beautiful story. Thank you also for the extra classroom supplies such as chart markers and white board markers. In an extremely difficult year, you have made a difference. This has given the students something to look forward to every day.”

Staying Close While Staying Apart
Funded Dec 7, 2020Thank you so much for providing my classroom with so many supplies. We use our class set of whiteboards daily! We use them during math mostly, which allows me to check each students' understanding of the concepts while maintaining 6 feet of distance. My students were also thrilled to receive the class set of the novel, Esperanza Rising. It was such a welcome break from our class literature book. It still allows us to read high quality material, while also exposing them to both historical fiction and multicultural literature. All of the other supplies, such as chart markers and poster boards are used on a daily basis. We can not express our thanks enough. You have helped make this a better year for my class.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Nye
This classroom project was brought to life by San Diego Gas & Electric and one other donor.Let's Get the Wiggles Out
Funded Oct 27, 2019We can't begin to thank you enough for your donation for our "Wiggly Chairs". More than half of the students in my class are able to use the flexible seating on a daily basis. Certain students use them all of the time, while the rest of the class rotates. We also have a weekly contest where 6 winners get to use the chairs for the week.
When the students first saw the flexible seating chairs, they were beyond excited! They couldn't wait to try them out. They have helped my students who struggle with sitting still due to ADHD by allowing them to be physically active while learning in the classroom environment. They have also allowed students alternatives to traditional classroom seating.
In the future, I hope to find more options for flexible seating, and even more creative ways to engage the students. Thank you for making this possible for this group of fifth grade students.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Nye
