Most of my learners are on the autism spectrum. This is their first experience in formal education and our goal in preschool is to develop "learning to learn" skills early on. Highly motivating reinforcements and incentives are key in my teaching when developing these skills. Sensory materials can help soothe and support children with autism. iPads can be used in a myriad of ways in the classroom for children with special needs: as a reinforcement with games and puzzles, for curriculum support, and for augmentative communication. Providing these students with fresh incentives, a new iPad, and classroom supplies will not only impact myself and my amazing special education team, but it will also greatly benefit students and open doors in their development that have not yet been reached.
