Small group activities is a research based best practice that supports learning. By using a leveled library we will be able to support the reading and communication development off our students to ensure they leave kindergarten with the foundational reading and language skills they need. The majority of our kindergarten students have not attended preschool and often lack the vocabulary, communication, and social skills of less vulnerable students. With these leveled libraries, educational puzzles and puppets, and community helper costumes and resources my students will develop their reading skills as well as their communication skills and their social emotional wellbeing through small group and structured play instruction.. The products we have chosen will allow our students to read high interest books at their level, increasing the time they spend reading and ultimately their reading ability. The structured play resources will allow students to highlight their creativity as well as develop their vocabulary, communication, curiosity, and social emotional skills.
