These lab supplies will help our students study motion by supporting the following learning areas outlined by the Texas Education Agency: (A) generate and interpret graphs and charts describing different types of motion, including investigations using real-time technology such as motion detectors or photogates; (B) describe and analyze motion in one dimension using equations and graphical vector addition with the concepts of distance, displacement, speed, average velocity, instantaneous velocity, frames of reference, and acceleration; (C) analyze and describe accelerated motion in two dimensions, including using equations, graphical vector addition, and projectile and circular examples. Additionally, the Lab Quest Mini interfaces will serve as the backbone of this physics lab. In the future, additional lab investigations will be possible as we are able to purchase more sensors that interface with the Lab Quest Mini. For example, conservation of momentum investigations using the three axis accellerometer, and the study of friction, simple harmonic motion, impact in collisions, or centripetal force using the dual range force sensor.
