  • Winter Holiday Card Project

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity. This means a lot to my students. My students come from different backgrounds, and many do not receive essential support at home. I want them to feel welcome and safe in school, and materials like tissues and wipes will make our class time more meaningful. Students will not waste time going to the bathroom to get a tissue. They lose a lot of instructional time. I am excited to get the colored pencils and paper to prepare fun writing activities in December and January.

Thank you so much, and enjoy your holidays and wish you a blessed new year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Song

  • Essential Supplies for a New School Year

    Funded Aug 20, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations!

The materials purchased through this project will keep our classroom clean during the COVID/cold season. Students will thank you for bandaids and tissue throughout the fall semester. Students waste a lot of instructional time to get bandaids from the nurse's office since it is located in the basement of our building.”

  • Accelerated Reading Station

    Funded Mar 26, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my students. They have been working hard to prepare for the Regents exam in June, and these books will help them tremendously. Currently, there is no Regents book for Korean, Chinese, or Japanese, so teachers of East Asian languages are making a lot of supplemental materials for the students. Thank you so much for keeping our NYC students with needed supplies.”

  • Epic Korean Reading Corner

    Funded Dec 27, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations. With your donations, I could purchase books about Korea and Korean folktales. These books are in English and Korean so students can learn and develop Korean language skills. Each month, students are assigned to read the folktale on their level and answer the questions. I post the assignments in Google Classroom, and they use vocaroo.com to record their reading. Since I started this reading assignment, my students have appreciated Korean culture and developed cultural awareness. In addition, their reading skills and reading comprehension skills improved remarkably. Your donation will impact their learning experience continuously.

Thank you so much, and happy new year!”

  • Planet Superheroes!

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations.

With your donations, I could distribute the notebooks to my students for all levels. There are over one hundred fifty students in Korean classes. I bought more notebooks so everyone could have their Korean notebooks. Every day, students work on writing, and they use their notebooks. It is good that they can monitor their progress on their notebooks, and I can keep track of their writing skills easily. The best part is they do not lose their work. If they use loose-leaf paper, they tend to lose their work, but with their notebooks, they do not lose their work.

    Thank you so much!

    Happy New Year!”

  • Fantastic Magnetic Word Game

    Funded Dec 31, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations! The materials will be used in my Korean classes so my students can develop basic Korean syllable formation skills and reading. These will make so much easier for my students learn Korean alphabets and syllable formation. Thank you so much and happy new year!”

  • Extraordinary Writing Workshop

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you so much for your support in getting Korean folktale books and mythology to serve my students with different reading levels. It is challenging for heritage and non-heritage students to learn the Korean language and to read Korean books. These books are always on my desk so students can read them after completing their assignments. Also, I used the books to have reading lessons, and students loved it! These books are in Korean and English so they can understand the Korean traditional way of thinking and living from a long time ago and see how they are inherited by Korean Americans as well. I hope that what they learn in my class will help them to have the open-mindedness and support them in their future career.

    Thank you so much!”

  • Korean History through Art Project

    Funded Mar 17, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations. My students have made their pencil cases with colorful fabric markers with your support. Students had to draw something about their own culture and Korean culture. Also, they all had to write their names in Korean. In addition, Korean club students use markers to create posters and banners for club activities to promote Korean culture. Since warm weather has arrived, I plan to make fans with my students, and they will use the markers to decorate fans.

Thank you so much for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Song

  • Dive into New School Year Kit

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations. This year, my students received folders to organize Korean worksheets and notebooks in an enclosed folder. It reduced the amount of stress on students and me. They do not need to search for their learning materials in their backpacks anymore so that we can start the lesson right away, and students rarely lose the homework assignment since everything is inside their folders. I used all the sanitizing wipes to clean their desks during winter months, and I am sure it prevented them from getting sick.

    Thank you so much!”

  • Glad to Read Great Books!

    Funded Mar 6, 2020

Thank you for your generous donations. Since I received the books, pandemic hit us really hard so NYC schools were closed for more than a year. Since September 2021, I have been using the books in my class so my students are getting ready to take the Korean Regents exam in June. The books provide grammar lessons in detail so I am using the books every week. The books contain age appropriate dialogues so my students are doing better in speaking exercise as well.

Your donations are making a huge impact on my students' learning.

    Thank you so much!!!”

My students are learning Korean as foreign language. I teach 150 students every day in my school. 70 percent of them are non native speakers of Korean and 30 percent of them are Korean Americans. Amongst them are students with special needs. They come from all parts of Queens with various language, cultural, economic, and education backgrounds. I have to differentiate all my lessons to teach all of them. I plan many interactive games, cultural fair, computer lab, group mini projects and cooking so that everyone in my class can contribute and enjoy learning Korean language and culture.
