The classroom is filled with natural materials and earth tones. The students love to rest during quiet/nap time after a hard day of learning and working together! Currently, we have mats and they are red and blue. The color pattern here does not match the calm environment for social-emotional and academic learning that is being fostered and integrated throughout the classroom community and space. Our classroom design has been developed through the addition of natural materials. Using ROSIE, Rating Observation for Inspiring Environments, it has been noted that a classroom that has features of natural materials and calm colors fosters a space where optimal learning can occur. Adding cots that are also natural color toned would further improve upon the classroom environment that is being created.
