These writing board sets would provide multiple opportunities throughout the day to help my students develop fine motor skills and finger dexterity. I will use these magnetic erase boards along with many different writing tools to strengthen my students’ emergent writing skills, such as the development of name writing proficiency, the mechanics of letter and word writing, which includes spelling and gaining alphabet knowledge, learning the alphabetic code (including how to form letters and the sounds associated with each letter). Emergent writing skills are important predictors of children’s future reading and writing skills. Preschoolers benefit from daily writing experiences, so it is helpful to embed writing in the daily routine. With these writing boards, I will be able to model for my students and they can actively participate in the writing skills with me. This would promote engagement in my classroom and increase their overall knowledge and appreciation for writing.
