The materials will be used for a Geometry and Algebra 2 classroom. Typical day: Teacher: Take out your homework and your notes (all notes are copied on color paper to better help them identify them). Also, did everyone get their calculator, marker and dry erase board? Student: I don't have my notes or homework. Can I get another copy? Teacher: Sure, I only have a few copies left. Get it out of the extra folder. Student: Okay. Do you have a pencil I can borrow (have)? Teacher: Get one out of the cup on my desk. After about 10 minutes of going through this with multiple students, class can finally begin. Once students are given notes and the foundation is set, the real life application and discovery can begin. Students are assigned a project at the beginning of each unit to be completed by the end. Some of the guidelines outlined are: 5 key vocabulary words, 1 example of how it was used in class, 1 example of the concept being applied in real life (printed picture), and how they will remember this concept. When ready, students are given a sheet of colored or white paper to complete their project. They will have to present to gain full points. After the concept is introduced, a project for each concept will help students understand and make a better connection from the classroom to the real world. The famous question of "When will I use this?" will be discovered. I want to make math fun AGAIN they deserve it.
