Currently, I teach a class of 21, followed by a class of 20. There are no computers in our classroom, except for a teacher lap top that is fighting to stay relevant. My students are given access to 2 Chromebooks out of 1 Chromebook cart for the grade level with 14 classes. This lack of technology does not give the students the opportunity to interact with online resources and researching skills. I know the 3 Chromebooks I am asking for will not solve the problem. However, baby steps are needed to create the amount of technology that will benefit all of the students at our school. That being said, 3 Chromebooks would allow us a total of 5 in the classroom, which would make a significant difference. Students would be able to practice spelling, listen to stories online, take quizzes through their reading program, research topics, and vocabulary, play educational games to build skills in comprehension and reading ability and much more. I have been a teacher for 18 years. I am a new teacher to this district and school. I have come from a district that has a 1 to 1 ratio of Chromebooks to students. I have seen the impact of technology on educating. I want my current students to have that impact.
