Let's Get Ready to Learn!
Funded Feb 26, 2023I would like to thank you for playing a major role in our kids future! Because of you my students will not have to worry about supplies for school! I was able to set up each group of students with a bucket of things they would need to get through the class. We were able to use the chart paper to introduce writing to the students which is a subject that they struggle in. I was able to show them, step by step, how to go through the writing process.
I am also able to preserve somethings with the laminating machine that was given to us. This way we can share most of what we co.e up with from class to class.
We are very grateful to your contributions. They really mean a lot to the students (those who are in my class and those who are not in my class!). Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Bey
Extra, Extra, Read All About It!
Funded Oct 23, 2019The Students and I, from Carrie P Meek/Westview K-8 Center, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We really appreciate this kind gesture that you have bestowed upon us. Ever since I introduced the students to our new edition to our classroom, they have been excited. First, they are excited to have something of their own. A lot of our students have cell phones, but no computers, desktops or even laptops. We also must share laptops with other classes at the school. Every morning, we would have to wait for the laptops to be sent to our class and we must send them back whenever the teachers send for them. Now, we have a laptop that's stationed in our class and the students are enjoying it, thanks to you!
The laptop has also come in handy in helping the students with their typing skills. Because the students do not have any type of computers in the home, some of our students are lacking the proper typing skills that a middle school student should possess. This laptop has allowed several students to catch up with these typing skills and become confident in typing. This is perfect, especially when they have their writing assessment coming up in March, which is computer-based. This also plays a major role in our up and coming newspaper club. The students are already excited and anxious to join. The students' writing has greatly improved from the beginning of the school year and they are more excited about writing.
The printer is just as equally important in our classroom as the laptop. Now the students can print their produced work on the spot without waiting for someone else to print it for them. It is one thing to type something up, but it is an entirely different thing to see your work, physically in your hand. The students are like kids in a candy shop when it is time to print their work. They are so excited and gets them hyped to produce more writing materials. They also treasure their work after being printed.
You guys have truly made an impact on our students at Carrie P Meek/Westview K-8 Center.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Bey
