Technology has been presented to students at an exponential rate. They are a generation of children that know smart phones, tablets, and WiFi. Students are coming into Kindergarten already knowing how to navigate Smartphones and Tablets. Their skill set is equal, or sometimes higher than the level of their parents. Change with the times or get left behind! The dependency of technology is a constantly debated issue because people feel it takes away from the basic fundamental skills, such as putting a pencil to paper. Having a class set of Apple Pencils gives ALL my students the ability to practice this basic mechanical skill while also keeping with the momentum and growth of technology. I'll be able to send out PDF files, or "worksheets," to my students and have them annotate directly on the PDF. This makes the assignment more meaningful to them as they get to write it themselves and are not solely dependent upon being able to type.
