These books will allow my students to experience things that they might not get to otherwise! These students are 4th, 5th, and 6th graders in my Science and Social Studies class. They will be experiencing a new way to learn as we incorporate Science, Social Studies, Reading, Writing, Math, the Arts, PE, and a Maker Space into project-based learning. These books will be put into my reading area for the students to access and for me to use when I read aloud. I read aloud to the students daily. This will give me a selection to choose from that is relevant to the students' learning. These books will also be available to the students at all times to spark their interest in specific subjects, to open their minds to things they might not have known before, to help them do research for a project and also just to read for fun! The more students read, the more they learn. I have watched my students find topics that interest them, and then get so into a book about it that they want to take it to recess, or lunch, or just not stop to move on to the next subject! These are the kinds of 'sparks of interest' I want all of my students to experience.
