Dramatic play is one of the most important areas of any preschool classroom. Play is how children of this age explore the world around them, learn to problem solve, practice cooperation with peers and so much more! Using the materials I have chosen for this project will allow me to provide my students with a multitude of unique experiences to explore through play. These materials will also allow my students to experience a variety of environments and situations that they might not otherwise have the experience of exploring, such as a vets office, a garden and working with kitchen tools. To quote Mr. Rogers, play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning, but for children play is serious learning; play is really the work of childhood. Although each and every one of my 19 students has a vivid imagination and can create an experience out of almost anything, I want to be able to provide them with materials that will enhance this imagination. With these materials, I am so excited to see how my students will use them alongside the incredible imaginations that they each already possess.
