Flexible seating will allow my students to in an environment that is the most comfortable for them to learn in. I have designed my room to accommodate for the freedom of movement.
I want students to take ownership of their learning and seek to sit in a place that is going to help them learn best. A seat for all will allow students to learn the responsibility of deciding how they want to learn.
Flexible seating adds a variety of seating options in the classroom. It allows students to choose a work space that they feel comfortable in. When they have that sense of comfort they are prone to stay calm, focused and productive. It also promotes community and collaboration. Flexible seating allows students to quickly and easily pair up, work in small groups, or discuss as a whole class – without moving mountains of heavy desks to establish eye contact.
Flexible seating adds an extra degree of fun and excitement to learning. It gets kids engaged, active, and enthusiastic to be in the classroom. The benefits to flexible seating are numerous!
